Although the majority of our welding is robotic, we still have a place for highly skilled coded welders. They're used on short runs and prototypes where it isn't cost effective to set up a robotic welding programme. They're also used in certain intricate shapes where the robot isn't able to access the weld.
Components for welding are jigged using high precision welding fixtures that are made in-house to meet our exacting requirements. Gives fast turnarounds compared to our competitors.

Over 100 million spot welds are made every day in the automotive industry in Europe alone. Here it's being used at Newfield to attach a captive nut to a bracket - a typical application.

Newfield added a new Motoman two work-station gantry style robot to it's capacity list in 2007. The new state of the art machine has a capacity of 5 tonnes, and is able to handle workpieces up to 8 metres in length x 2.4 metres diameter. The two workstation design enables one piece to be set-up, while another piece is welding, and maximises the productivity of very large work pieces. This brochure picture is a single work-station version of the new machine.
